Iran Accuses US of Reckless Military Adventure as Tankers Hit

Iran accuses the US of reckless military adventure as Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on X that Washington chooses escalation every time a “diplomatic solution is on the table.” The statement came after the US Central Command disabled two Iranian-flagged oil tankers attempting to enter a port on the Gulf of Oman on Friday. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he hoped Iran’s expected response to American peace proposals would be “a serious offer.” President Donald Trump said the ceasefire remains intact.

How Iran Accuses US of Reckless Military Adventure

Araghchi addressed the American president directly in a post where Iran accuses the US of reckless military adventure. “Is it a crude pressure tactic? Or the result of a spoiler once again duping POTUS into another quagmire?” he wrote. He added that Iranians would “never bow to pressure.”

The post in which Iran accuses the US of reckless military adventure followed Thursday’s exchange of fire in the Strait of Hormuz, where both sides blamed each other for initiating hostilities. Centcom said Iranian forces launched missiles, drones, and small boats at three US warships. Iran’s military command alleged the US had targeted an Iranian oil tanker and carried out “aerial attacks” on coastal areas.

On Friday, Centcom said US forces disabled two Iranian-flagged unladen oil tankers. “Precision munitions into their smokestacks, preventing the non-compliant ships from entering Iran,” the statement read. The timing reinforced the pattern that Iran accuses the US of reckless military adventure whenever diplomatic progress appears possible.

The Blockade Escalation as Iran Accuses US of Reckless Military Adventure

The US naval blockade of Iranian ports has been in place since 13 April. The blockade initially turned commercial ships away. The current phase disables vessels that attempt to breach it. Centcom described the tankers as traveling “in violation of the ongoing US blockade.”

Mohammad Radmehr, an official in Hormozgan province, told Iranian state media that a cargo vessel attacked near Minab had caught fire. Ten injured sailors were transferred to the hospital. Search teams looked for others. The human cost of the tanker war accumulates as Iran accuses the US of reckless military adventure, while the US enforces the blockade with escalating methods.

Iran has been controlling the Strait of Hormuz and attacking US allies in the Gulf. Approximately 20% of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passes through the waterway. An estimated 2,000 vessels remain stranded in the region.

The Diplomatic Track as Iran Accuses US of Reckless Military Adventure

Rubio, speaking during a visit to Italy, said Iran was expected to respond to US proposals. “I hope it’s a serious offer, I really do,” he said. The statement that Iran accuses the US of reckless military adventure was the diplomatic backdrop to that expectation.

Trump has said the ceasefire remains in effect despite continuing military operations. The truce is intended to enable talks to end the war that the US and Israel launched in February. The exchange of diplomatic messages continues through Pakistani mediators. The military track and the diplomatic track operate simultaneously.
